Kungs – We’ll Meet Again Feat. Emma Carn

Kungs has not even been doing music for one year. It’s been 10 months exactly. We’ve followed him from the beginning and it is amazing to see how quickly he improved. We like to call him the French Kygo because of some styles he shares with the Norvegian DJ. Kungs is impressive. He quickly developped his own universe with his own style and sound. He managed to stick to this and made it better and better from one track to another. We are so impressed by this French prodigy and so proud in the same time of what he has accomplished.
He just released this new song which kind of symbolise a new step in his career. Maybe I’m wrong but it seems like this track is not a remix. I didn’t find where the song comes from so far but I could be wrong and this could be a remix of a cover.
Anyway, again, Kungs shows how talented he is. We directly dive into his endless summer world as soon as the song starts. That’s all his magic.
The voice of Emma Carn is a brilliant choice (just like Jasmine Thompson for Candy). It’s hypnotising and seducing. The electronic piano beats brings the fever with a shy guitar and then… BIM. Surprise, here comes the pan flutes. Ok, it’s a classic but he uses it very smartly.
Again it’s a damn great tune and we love it.
Keep up the awesome work Kungs, we truly and fully support you!

DUEL: MrCØ VS Amadei & Zimmer on France Gall

New duel at the top and this time DJs are fighting over a classic of French variété: France Gall’s hit Ella, Elle L’a. French DJs are feeling nostalgic apparently.
The song was released in 1987. Yeah it’s one of these 80’s classics. Don’t ask me why DJs were suddendly attracted by this song, I have no idea.
Anyway.
Let’s start by the first ones: Amadei & Zimmer who released their remix a few months ago. The remix is nice. They didn’t touch to the vocals, or not a lot. The beats are a bit harder and hit the rythm with more energy. Also, the electric guitar has more prensence. This, added to the beats, gives a rock side to the track. Yeah, that’s it, I’d say it’s a electro-rock version of the song. But to be honest, the old fans of France Gall won’t get lost because the original spirit of the song is still there. Even the trumpets.

The second DJ is MrCØ. We already talked about him with his remix of La Madrague and we also loved Le Premier Bonheur du Jour. So, yes MrCØ knows what he does when taked an old French classic. Especially with former famous female singer.
This other French DJ takes more risks with this remix. The begining is all different from the original. A deep quick electric beat goes all along until the vocals of France Gall arrive. Then the beats is more discret and the original music takes over the remix. Anyway, this remix is still quicker, the rythm is faster, the vocals are faster, the beats too. It’s quick and dynamic without really changing the song. Again, France Gall’s fanbase won’t be lost in this track.

MrCØ did a little bit more on his remix but it’s not THAT different from what Amadei & Zimmer did. A kind of rework or maybe an update of this 80’s hit. To be honest, maybe the French DJs were impressed by everything France Gall represents. It’s a dangerous thing to touch to a 80’s hit in France. If you fail, you’re dead. Remixing one of the best voices of France musical history is a risky job.

Cajoline – Feelin

Despite having a washing powder name, French DJ Cajoline knows how to make good music.
With this new tracj, the DJ takes us to a tropical universe where Alicia Keys is slowly dancing on the beach singing some beautiful soul melodies.Even on the paper the mix of these two styles sounds tasty. In your ears, it’s the same.
The tropical coconuts beats hit the rythm with enough strength to guide your moves on the dancefloor. Alicia’s dreamy voice is there to hypnotise you and seduce you (or help you seduce your crush). Everything is nice in this tune. You sure will shake your hips on these tropic beats. Summer is not over for French DJs…

Embody – Bad News

British boys are back with some good sound.
Embody, from London, just gave us a sample of his talent. It’s called Bad News. Based on a nice rythmic piano melody that goes all along and some low and loud beats enhanced at the chorus. The vocals are nice, cool and perfectly in the spirit of the housy music.
It’s not a remix, it’s all home-made by Embody and we like it.

Andreas Moe – Ocean (LCAW Remix)

German DJ LCAW already showed us he got talent with some previous hit such as Berlin or recently The Sun. With this remix, we come back to a folk style. The acoustic rythmic guitar is really trendy at the time. Maybe the last summer feelings are still here with some memories of people playing around a fire camp on the beach.
Anyway. LCAW remixed Ocean a song originally sung by Andreas Moe, a talented Swedish guitarist and singer. LCAW sets up the frame right at the begining. Cool and deep beats with a shy guitar. The vocals are beautiful and really enhanced by the DJ music. The whole thing starts slowly and grows little by little. But it never explode. That’s the thing. LCAW keeps on this perticular point where you want to go higher and higher to explode. It’s all based on this need, this lack of something. It’s this frustration that makes it all sounds so beautiful.
Beautiful use of the trumpets I shall say. People are tired of saxophone and DJ have to learn how to use trumpets in a good way. This one is a good example.
Andreas Moe’s voice is sublime and LCAW’s beats suit it perfectly. It’s a match!

Gorgon City & MNEK – Ready For Your Love Feat. Hobbie Stuart (Monkey Joker Edit)

OH. GOD. YES.
That’s what I thought when I heard this the first time.
I really love Ready For Your Love. That song is just a massive tune. It’s sexy and attractive. It’s full of awesome beats and deep melodies.
Then came out the Bearcubs remix and its ping pong balls sound in the background. It sounds ridiculous like that but I really fell in love with this remix that I immediately ranked in the top 10 of my best remixes. And I thought it would be the end with this remix being the best that could ever be done of Gorgon City and MNEK‘s song.
I was so wrong.
I’m not saying that Monkey Joker is better but I’m definitely not saying it’s less good. It’s just amazing. The magic of this French DJ is that he found Hobbie Stuart. Hobbie is a young singer from Brighton who did an acoustic cover of Ready For Your Love. BAM.

Then, I don’t know if it’s the talent of the DJs from the south of France (they are a lot there), the mistral or the warm temperature but Monkey Joker took the beauty of the voice of Hobbie Stuart and the chill side of the acoustic guitar, the sexy and coolness of the original beats, added a little bit of its secret tropical house ingredient. He let it all cooked for a while in his studio and then… This amazing tune was born.
I think everything has been said before : sexy, deep, great beats. A pure gem. Monkey Joker who was just a DJ among the others and now he’ll probably do some awesome tunes. You’re under the spotlight man, it’s your turn to take all the profit from it!

Duel Tep No VS Lexer

I haven’t writen for a while now. Sorry I’ve been very busy with work and I still am. But I’ll try to find more time to write and share good tunes with you guys.
That being said, for my come back I decided to offer you two remixes for one song: a duel.

This duel is set around True a song by Nora En Pure. Originally it’s a kind of pop-dance-housy song. Really nice.
However, we’re talking about two DJs here.
The first one, Lexer is a German guy from Leipzig. He’s quite famous now and have done a few hits. His remix of True will be released on the 29th of september. His version gives a real deep house taste to the original one. The sweet and soft piano melody slows down the rythm. You can take your time and really appreciate the sound. Lexer doesn’t forget to make you dance though because some smooth come back to a more dance chorus are here to wake you up. The whole remix is really nice and truly represent the deep house style under one of its new faces.

The second remix was done by Tep No. The duel is not very fair to be honest because Tep No only released a preview of its remix so far. So I’m gonna do something I don’t like and try to give a short review of a short extract of a tune. However knowing this Canadian producer (I’m talking about Tep No), I can say this is a more pop-dancy interpretation. Don’t see here any insult. From what I can hear so far, I would say that his remix will be more dancy and maybe aimed for a different audience. Something you could play in a party for example whereas Lexer’s remix is slower. It would be logical since Tep No had a kind of transition from slow, soft and dreamy songs (Promises, Missing Winter) to something more dancing.
