Capital Cities – One Minute More (Kryptogram Remix)

Everything let think that Kryptogram is a begginner on the scene. Don’t get me wrong, I’m just talking about facts. First song released on SoundCloud and no other website. His Facebook page is not even one month old and neither is his Twitter account. Really intriguing isn’t it?
So what do we know about him? Apparently he is from Chicago and… That’s basically all I can tell you right now!
Anyway it all gets even more suprising when you listen to his first remix. Indeed, Kryptogram might be a fresh new-comer, the truth is, his music doesn’t sound like a 12-year-old boy playing with his mum’s piano. It’s impressive.
So, the American DJ remixed One Minute More, a song originally sung by the band Capital Cities. Here the tempo is slower, the beat is softer and it all gives a chill house aspect to the song. It sounds really fresh and comes with some summer sunshine. Kryptogram alternates between really low parts and peaks, creating several ruptures. He plays with the rythm but only to let the music explode at its peak. No, seriously it all really sound nice and chilly. So, I don’t know you but I’m going to keep an eye on this guy and press the “follow” button.

THE DUEL A TROIS: Bolivard VS Bit Catchy VS Black Space

This is quite a special duel because it’s not a duel. It opposes three different DJs around the one same song by the attractive indie-pop duo Tegan and Sara: I Was a Fool.

On the right corner stands Bit Catchy. He should get the advantage because he’s Canadian just like the two singers. Bit Catchy mixes in Vancouver but was born in the motherland of Russia. Not only does he remixes some nice tunes the young DJ also produces his own songs and that is really cool.
In the left corner is the Frenchie of this duel: Bolivard. The Canadian might have more songs in his pocket but the two competitors are just as famous with a few hundreds followers on SoundCloud for each of them.
And, well, in the middle? Yeah let’s go ahead with that, in the middle stands the very young Swiss DJ producer Black Space. On the paper, the Swiss is winner. We already heard him with some great tunes like Birds Of Summer or Back Home. But you know, surprises often happen.

Bit Catchy must know Tegan and Sara from before if they’re Canadian. This remix is not really new since the Vancouver DJ published it almost a month ago. His remix increases a bit the tempo of the vocals. The electronic base gives an electro-pop side to the song. It’s colorful and punchy. Full of energy with a little tiny 80’s touch. I would say Bit Catchy kept the original spirit of the duo. Yep, no doubt you can dance on this but let’s see what Bolivard did.

Bolivard decided to play the chill house card. His version is clearly softer. The piano is classy but with the pop touch brought by Tegan and Sara. We still stick to the soul of the original version. I would say this version sound fancier. The electronic beat played by the piano comes with a nice flute melody. Another version, a different atmosphere but still a pop song.

Finally Black Space might be the only one who took a bit more distance with the colorful pop side of the song. What we got there is a classic piano, a discreet electro beat in the background and a kind of flute all along the tune that brings a summer touch or maybe more a chill touch to the whole. Around the middle/end, Black Space even chose to add some vocals in the background like some echos which give a dreamy side to the tune.

In the end we really have one song remixed by three different Djs, but three very different atmospheres. Despite how good they can all be in their own way, only one remix can be the winner in this “triel”! You decide who did the best remix of Tegan and Sara’s I Was a Fool
Support also Bit Catchy on his Facebook and Twitter, Bolivard on his Facebook and Twitter and Black Space on his Facebook and Twitter too.
BONUS free downloads for all of these songs available on their Facebook (Bolivard) or SoundCloud (Bit Catchy and Black Space)

Ed Sheeran – Bloodstream (Chris Meid Bootleg)

I felt like the London scene was quite discreet these last months. I mean I always hear about the Germans, Dutchies or French among others. And then suddendly I found this guy, Chris Meid. This 22-year-old Londoner took over Ed Sheeran. A good choice because the singer is really rising up and the release of his new album X was the perfect occasion to do a remix.
So Chris chose Bloodstream, a relatively calm and slow song. He had some electronic beats that fit perfectly the rythm and the atmosphere of the song. The result of these beats makes me think of some Kygo work. It’s really nice to listen to, it’s chilly and the voice of Ed Sheeran – as always – really suits this chill house tune. I can only congratulate Chris Meid and wish him to keep up with this kind of nice sound.

Go on his SoundCloud but also on his Facebook or Twitter he needs more followers and deserves it!

Lana Del Rey – West Coast (XYconstant Remix)

Lana Del Rey‘s songs have always and will always be remixed by thousands of DJ all around the world. Have a look at all the different version of Summertime Sadness if you need an example. With her the release of her new album Ultraviolence we won’t escape from a new wave of remixed Lana. Don’t get me wrong, I never said this was a bad thing. Indeed, it appears that in the end the pop singer’s songs are way much better remixed.
XYconstant, aka Alfred Coleman, opens the game on this blog with this remix of Lana’s first single West Coast. The 90’s melodic piano is present all along and put the bases of  what is a really nice tune. The whispers of Lana fits perfect with this instrument and they grow at the same rythm as the music. Cut at some part with some low beats the DJ plays witht the rythm to make us dance. This remix of West Coast is definitely a good one. All Lana Del Rey remixed fans will love it. So do I.

Patrick Ebert – No Other Love

Patrick Erbert is a Berliner DJ. He just released one of his last creation a few days ago. This is called No Other Love. After quite a long intro the first vocal begins. This no ultra violent song and it won’t especially rock your flat. However, somehow the German producer did manage to put a really nice atmosphere on this track. The electronic synth discreet at the beginning, turns out to be more present and louder in the next part of the tune. It’s nice, chilling but yes, a bit repetitive in the end.

THE DUEL: Gamper & Dadoni VS LCAW

This week two great DJs released their own remix of the song The Sun from Parov Stelar. Here is the summary of this battle…
This fight is 100% German. On the right corner we’ve got the duo Gamper & Dadoni representing Hambourg. More than 42 000 followers on SoundCloud, 1 600 more on Twitter and 62 400 likes on Facebook.
On the left corner, LCAW from Munich is standing. The 19-year-old boy got 31 400 followers on SoundCloud, almost 600 on Tweeter and 45 000 likes on his Facebook page.
The advantage is for the Hambourg duo since they’re two and got more experience on the ring. Gamper & Dadoni are like a massive war weapon on the deep house world. Give them anything and they manage to produce a amazing tune that would fit in any club. They already proved it many times with their remixes of July FlameNo Eyes, etc. However, the young LCAW is growing up really fast and already gave us some amazing tune like the remix of RY X’s Berlin or Daughter’s Run. We can expect some surprise…

So Gamper & Dadoni heard The Sun and decided they could do something with that. God damn it, I love what they did! The melody played by the piano might reminds to some of you some 90’s sound. Even some of the electro synth beats can bring you back to your childhood. It’s just a really nice tune that will rock some dancefloors this summer. But is it enough to beat LCAW?

LCAW did his own version of this song. Quite different, I would say this remix is more modern, more up-to-date maybe. LCAW decided to insist more on the vocals and kept most of the verse. Some summer drums are here to put more rythm into them. The German DJ creates a wait with several rises of the tempo without reaching a real peak or explosing. It kinda reaches it with a dreamy piano solo in the end.

Lastraw & JazzyFunk – Darkest Nights (Vijay & Sofia Zlatko Remix)

Vijay & Sofia Zlatko remixed Darkest Nights from Lastraw & JazzyFunk for a great pleasure. We’re used to have really slow chilling song with them, chilling but not sleepy, always with some powerful background melody. This one got such a sad name but don’t let it fools you. This is no depressive tune. A tune that reaches its peak with a rythmic piano and nice chilling sax. The combination of this sensual saxophone and sexy verses makes it definitely a sexy song.

Cro – Nur Dich (Zion Fancy Edit)

I knew Cro from the edit Housejunkee did of his song Traum. It seems like the German singer is inspiring people in his country. This time Zion Fancy took over Nur Dich.  The tune is really pleasant it sounds like a mix of hip-hop verses with a housy touch brought by the saxophone melody. Sadly I don’t understand German but this sounds definitely like a party song outside in a sunny afternoon.

Kav Verhouzer Feat. Straight From The Fridge – Rollende Steen (Mozambo Remix)

Mozambo are three French DJs and producers. Coming from the south of French they know how to add some sunshine in their tracks. They might have been noticed with the remix of St Germain’s So Flute or their recent work with Kungs on To Describe You. Anyway at some point, they got noticed outside the French borders. The Dutch DJ Kav Verhouzer allowed them to remix his song Rollende Steen. So thanks Kav!

Damn that’s typically the kind of song you wanna wake up to! The chilly guitar and bass riff makes it sound so cool and chilly but the piano just adds the rythmic melody that you need. Mozambo just did a perfect remix that makes you wanna stand up, run to the beach and organise a big party there zith your friends. Chilly and rocking!

Kyla La Grange – The Knife (July Child Remix)

I didn’t July Child before. So this is just the first remix I hear from them. Obviously, if I’m writting about them that means I did like their remix. The song is originally from Kyla La Grange – whose Cut Your Teeth has already been remixed by Kygo and was quite a success. Anyway, this one is just as good, if not better.

In this version, forget the tropical drums, they’re replaced by an electric beat. The voice is a bit softer and I would say a bit slower, but that might be just the overall impression the remix gives; typical chilling song. Although you might also use it to create a romantic atmosphere…

Bonus, you can download the song on their Facebook (but don’t forget to follow them here too).
